Is God leading you to
volunteer?
Over-commitment is a serious problem that we
create for ourselves when we can't say "No" to a request for our
time. You may have felt the pressure of working all day and attending meetings
three or four nights in one week. It’s not a good feeling.
In guarding against this type of pressure it
would be easy to avoid commitment of any kind - but there is a balance. Finding
that balance takes a commitment to seek the Lord for His guidance in how our
time is spent.
The ongoing ministry of the Abel Center depends on
volunteers who have responded to the leading of the Lord. There are many
opportunities for services, and everyone who desires to help can find a way to
do so.
The small amount of time you give (even as
little as one hour per week) will accomplish much for eternal value. "So
be careful how you act, these are difficult days. Don't be fools; be wise; make
the most of every opportunity you have for doing good. Don’t act thoughtlessly
but try to find out and do whatever the Lord wants you to." Ephesians
5:15-17.
