The Abel Center affirms the value of human life by providing a safe and caring place that seeks to express Christian compassion to women, men, and their families who are experiencing pregnancy-related crises. We seek to empower a woman to make informed choices related to her pregnancy by providing her with accurate information, and offering her emotional, spiritual, and practical care.

The Abel Center is staffed by volunteers who have undergone training in crisis counseling. Most volunteers and paid staff do not have degrees in counseling and are not licensed by the state as professional counselors. The Biblical counseling undertaken at the Abel Center is not intended to be a substitute for professional counseling. A referral for such counseling will be given if requested.

The Abel Center is a limited medical facility. The result of your free  pregnancy test or limited ultrasound is not a diagnosis. Only a licensed physician can provide a diagnosis. All clients with a positive test result are referred to a medical provider to confirm the  test results and to provide pre-natal follow up care. If you have not chosen a physician, we can provide you with a partial referral list if you wish.

The Abel Center does not perform or refer for abortion.

The Abel Center is not a financial lending institution. If financial assistance is needed, we will provide you with a referral list of organizations that may be of help to you. In addition, if you need help with setting up a budget (managing your money) then please mention this need to your peer-counselor.

Counseling for avoiding future pregnancies is offered to interested unmarried clients. For 100% effectiveness and to promote the spiritual, emotional, and physical health of our clients, our counseling is abstinence based. If you are a married client, then we encourage you to seek guidance from a family doctor, OB/GYN, or pastor.

The Abel Center will hold in strict confidence all information provided, except as required by law regarding the mandatory reporting of cases where there is reasonable grounds to believe that physical or sexual abuse of a minor has occurred or in cases where there is reasonable grounds to believe that a person may commit suicide or cause bodily harm to someone else.

In order to effectively safeguard a client's confidentiality and provide the best care for her/him, we ask that family members and friends wait in the waiting room until all legal papers are completed. After that, if the client so desires, family members or friends will be invited to join the client.
